Gerresheimer & ThermoFisher Form Joint Venture

Legal filings have been completed that have formed a new joint venture company from specific operations of ThermoFisher and Gerresheimer Glass Inc. (formerly known as Kimble Glass Inc) The new company will consist of ThermoFisher’s Pfeiffer Glass operation in Rochester, New York, Chase Scientific Glass in Rockwood, Tennessee and Scherf in Germany. The Gerresheimer operations that will become part of the joint venture include Kimble Kontes LLC in Vineland, New Jersey, Kontes Mexico in Queretaro, Mexico and KBL and KBG in China.  The new company will do business as Kimble Chase Life Science and Research Products LLC.  Gerresheimer Glass Inc. will have 51% ownership and ThermoFisher 49% ownership, in the new company.

Kimble Chase will serve the life science and research product marketplace with a wide array of glass apparatus for lab ware applications (reusable and disposable glass) and specialty glass products for various manufacturers. Kimble Chase will be based at 1022 Spruce Street in Vineland, New Jersey. Kimble Chase will employ over 1,500 employees worldwide, of which approximately 950 are in North America.

Gerresheimer Glass Inc will continue to be headquartered on Crystal Avenue in Vineland, New Jersey and operate its other divisions, specifically, the tubular manufacturing facility on Crystal Avenue and the tubular converting facilities on West Forest Grove in Vineland, New Jersey, and in Morganton, North Carolina, the moulded glass operations in Millville, New Jersey and Chicago Heights, Illinois, in addition to its other operations in Mexico and China. Including the Joint Venture, Gerresheimer Glass Inc. employs approximately 2050 employees in the U.S. and over 3300 worldwide.
