Kimble Chase Life Science and Research Products LLC in Rockwood, Tennessee has recently revised its quality policy. The policy simply states:
Kimble Chase Life Science and Research Products, Rockwood, Tennessee, is committed to deliver best-in-class quality to our global customers, striving for customer satisfaction by applying our continuous improvement philosophy. This is accomplished through:
- Demonstration of management commitment to excellence
- Maintaining a culture of employee ownership and accountability for the quality of their products
- Always being responsive to customer needs
- Focusing on continual improvement of our processes and our quality management system
As such, one of the CIP teams created has been looking at product specifications which inherently create quality issues for our customers, and determining what action the Rockwood facility can take to resolve them. The Rockwood facility reviewed customer complaints over the past few years, as well as quality and manufacturing department inspection data and identified a design flaw in our 13mm product specifications. In all cases, the thread OD range overlapped the tubing OD range, causing the threads to chip during production or transport.
To rectify the issue, the Rockwood manufacturing facility will be changing the tubing that will be used for these products as of January 1, 2008. See below for details on the dimensional changes:
